About Us
As a child in Chicago, I fell in love with the theater and costuming. Acting and directing plays all the way through college gave me a deep appreciation of how we present ourselves to an audience. More than the "good guys wear white" notion, I quickly learned that our outward appearance is a definite reflection of who we are--or wish to be.
After teaching and directing in the South for several years, I moved with my husband back to Chicago with the desire to try something I'd always loved: to work in fashion. Fashion Design and Style Consulting seemed like a natural extension of the work I'd done as a teacher. Coupled with a healthy personal weight loss nearly eight years ago, the seeds of A Common Thread were planted.
Our fashion and style needs are forever changing. As a new mom, I have truly learned to "practice what I preach" and work with the demands of motherhood while still attempting to look polished and pulled together. I love to share these tips and "tricks of the trade" with fellow mothers, working men and women, and everyone in between!
