Welcome back to The Book Thread. This is the monthly newsletter where we talk about books. May was such a great month of reading! Not only were the books wonderful, but I read outside. Lying in the hammock, curled up on a cushy chair, sitting in the grass, it was glorious.

I finished the 5th book in Elizabeth Strout’s Amgash series (more on that below) and I just can’t get enough of her books. In the last few months I’ve read 5 of her novels and she quickly became one of my favorite authors. Her writing is so simple but is also filled with so much empathy and compassion. It makes each character complex and deeply human. I happened to find one of Strout’s earlier novels Olive Kitteredge at a used book sale in town (which was also made into a miniseries), and I just picked up her latest novel The Things We Never Say from the library. Lucky for me she has plenty of novels I haven’t read yet, but I was very sad to finish the Amgash series. I can’t recommend it enough.

I’m trying not to get overwhelmed by my TBR list. There’s just too many books I want to read, a good problem to have 😀 If you’d like to contribute to my big summer book round-up, submit your rec here. It’ll be published in June!
