While I sat in the waiting room for a follow up mammogram recently, which admittedly always makes me feel a bit anxious, I started writing in the little notebook I keep in my bag. It’s my go-to activity when I need a distraction and don’t want to look at my phone. As I was jotting down some thoughts, including how grateful I was for the warm hospital gown (seriously that should just be a requirement in all hospitals), I wrote about how happy I was to have my little notebook. A habit I was glad I started.

It got me thinking about other rituals and habits that make my life better. Not necessarily what I do everyday, but a series of things over time, that consistently improve my life. You might already be doing some of these yourself! Sometimes all we need is a reminder of the things we’re already doing that make our lives better, to know that we’re actually kinda, sorta doing ok. Maybe? It’s worth a shot. Here’s a few of mine, tell me yours.

Quick PSA: I’m working on a HUGE summer beach reads round-up for June. I’d like to include some reader faves, so please share yours here!

Giving up alcohol

My break up with alcohol was a bit of a slow burn. In all honesty I’ve never been a big drinker (let’s not discuss my teens and early 20s), but it wasn’t until a little over a year ago I finally decided I was done.
